Tâi-oân-kì is a Taiwanese wiki. It's running on MediaWiki[Note 1] software. Unlike Wikipedia, Tâi-oân-kì is an independent project unrelated to Wikimedia[Note 2].

Why building it?

  • Tâi-oân-kì is fully in Taiwanese. It doesn't include any related language as opposed to Wikipedia which is limited by ISO-639-3 to include Amoy, Southeast Asian Hokkien, etc.
  • Tâi-oân-kì is operated by its own user on a cloud service. No outsiders serve as administrators or developers. This could minimize barriers of making upgrades or changes. In contrast, users on Wikipedia have to deal with community, technical, or language obstacles for asking system level changes.
